“Virginia Giuffre, a prominent survivor who accused Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew of sexual abuse, has died by suicide at her farm in Australia.”
Virginia Giuffre, a key survivor in the Jeffrey Epstein case who accused Prince Andrew of sexual abuse, died by suicide at 41 in Western Australia. Her death is not considered suspicious. Tributes pour in, remembering her as a fearless warrior for survivors of sexual abuse.
Virginia Giuffre, one of the leading survivors of financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual crimes who also accused Britain’s Prince Andrew of abuse during her teenage years, has died by suicide, her family confirmed. She was 41 years old.
In a heartbreaking statement, her family said,
“It is with completely broken hearts that we announce Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia.”
Police confirmed that emergency services responded to a call on Friday night near Perth, Western Australia, where a woman was found unresponsive in her home. Despite attempts at resuscitation, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated her death is not being treated as suspicious.
Her family said,
“After surviving a lifetime of sexual abuse and sex trafficking, Virginia ultimately lost her life to suicide.”
Virginia was hailed as a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual exploitation and trafficking. She brought light and hope to countless other survivors.
Giuffre had been one of the most vocal victims of Epstein, and she famously alleged that she was trafficked to Prince Andrew during her teenage years. Her family confirmed that she had taken her own life at her farm, where she had lived for several years.
“Ultimately, the toll of the abuse became too heavy for Virginia to bear,” her family’s statement read.
Throughout her life, Virginia fought bravely against the powerful figures she accused. Her journey began when she was allegedly groomed and sexually abused as a teenager by Epstein and his longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. Her allegations were a critical part of the exposure of Epstein’s global sex trafficking operation.
Virginia’s attorney, Sigrid McCawley, described her as “so much more than a client.”
“She was a beloved friend and an incredible champion for other survivors. Her courage inspired me to fight harder, and her strength was truly remarkable,” McCawley said.
“The world has lost a remarkable human being. Rest in peace, my dear angel.”
Dini von Mueffling, Giuffre’s spokesperson, added,
“Virginia was among the most extraordinary humans I have ever known — deeply loving, compassionate, witty, and a beacon of hope for other survivors.”
Attorney Josh Schiffer, who represents another Epstein victim, emphasized Giuffre’s pivotal role:
“This case would not exist without Virginia’s bravery and cooperation. She inspired many others to come forward.”
Schiffer expressed hope that her tragic death would bring more attention to the ongoing global crisis of sex trafficking:
“Sex trafficking continues to exist worldwide, constantly evolving in form. Virginia’s story remains a stark reminder of that reality.”
While Western Australia police did not officially confirm Giuffre’s identity, they reported a woman’s death after a call around 9:50 p.m. on Friday in the town of Neergabby, roughly 75 km north of Perth.
Earlier this month, Giuffre had shared on social media about a minor car accident involving a school bus, but no injuries were reported. Days later, she was admitted to the emergency department at a Perth hospital.
Virginia Giuffre, an American citizen, said she first met Ghislaine Maxwell in 2000 while working as a locker-room attendant at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Maxwell allegedly offered her a job as a massage therapist for Epstein, which Giuffre said turned into years of sexual exploitation by Epstein’s friends and clients, describing it as being “passed around like a platter of fruit.”
Under the alias “Jane Doe 102”, she filed a civil lawsuit against Epstein in 2009, accusing him of facilitating her sexual exploitation, even involving royalty. That case was settled before trial.

In 2021, Giuffre filed a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew in New York federal court, claiming he sexually assaulted her three times when she was 17.
Prince Andrew vehemently denied the allegations but later reached an undisclosed out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022.
Ghislaine Maxwell, maintaining her innocence, was sentenced in 2022 to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking minors.
Jeffrey Epstein was arrested by federal authorities in July 2019 on sex trafficking charges. A month later, he died by suicide in jail while awaiting trial.
Virginia Giuffre, a courageous survivor who exposed Jeffrey Epstein’s and Prince Andrew’s alleged abuses, has tragically died by suicide at 41, highlighting the lasting scars of sexual abuse and the urgent need for continued advocacy for survivors.
